GET YOUR MOTOR RUNNIN’
Dykes That Ride, a newly formed group, will be at the front of the Seattle Pride Parade as a symbol of LGBTQ community, communication, respect, and empowerment.
If you wish to enter the Parade on your motorcycle as part of the Dykes That Ride contingent, you must follow these specific instructions as registration is unique to this group of participants. If you have any questions, please contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The registration process for motorcycle entries has been streamlined for everyone’s convenience. Please note that there will be NO pre-registration for individual motorcycle entries. All motorcycle entries must register on the day of the Parade as they enter the Parade staging area. A $10 entry fee per motorcycle or scooter will be collected at the parade staging area. Cash only, no checks or credit cards; please bring exact change. Please note that the only motorcycles allowed in the parade are those riding with the Dikes That Ride contingent. Please thoroughly read the parade guidelines for information on what is required before you can ride in the parade, including driver’s license, registration, and insurance requirements.

Important: Please read thoroughly
Motorcycle and/or Scooter Insurance: We realize that Washington state law makes this insurance optional for motorcycle drivers. However, in order for us to be able to get the event insurance required of us by the city of Seattle to put on the Parade, we are required by our insurance carrier to only allow self-insured vehicles to participate. We regret that this requirement may force us to exclude a few individuals the chance to ride in the Parade but the potential liability is far too great for us to assume otherwise.
Safety: Please be aware of all spectators and other Parade participants while driving. Please do not exceed 15 mph during the Parade, and please keep all wheels of your vehicle on the ground at all times.
Seattle Pride Personnel: Please respect all directions and instructions given by Seattle Pride personnel before and during the event.
Be Ready To Assist: In the event of a medical emergency, please be ready to assist Seattle Pride safety personnel with crowd control, if requested.
Protesters: Please do not hassle and/or engage with protesters. They want to get a rise out of participants, and the most effective response is to ignore them.
Nudity: Nudity and obscenity will not be permitted. Nipples (women) and genitalia must not be visible. Any individual and/or contingent not complying with this rule will be removed from the parade. No exceptions will be made. Seattle Pride reserves the right to remove any contingent from the parade if they deem that a member of a contingent is in violation of this rule.
Alcohol and Illegal Substances: No participant in the Pride Parade will be permitted to possess or consume alcohol or use illegal or controlled substances during the parade or at any lineup, assembly or disbanding site. No individual under the influence of a prohibited substance will be allowed to drive any vehicle participating in the parade.
Disclaimer: As it is impossible to anticipate every situation that may arise, no conduct that violates any statute of the State of Washington or any ordinance of the City of Seattle will be tolerated. Any entry violating applicable law will be prohibited from participating in the Pride Parade. Please be advised that the Seattle Police Department is responsible for enforcing all applicable state laws and local ordinances during Pride events. Such statutes may include but are not limited to public decency, alcohol, controlled substances, public safety, and standard vehicle insurance requirements.
Seattle Pride is hereby absolved from liability arising from the use of floats in the parade or any activities in association with Seattle Pride. In accordance with City, State, and Federal Laws, no alcoholic beverages will be allowed during any portion of the Pride Parade. Seattle Pride reserves the right to remove, including but not limited to, any person, motorized or un-motorized vehicle, conveyance, float, or participant(s) for any activity deemed unsafe, violation of any rules contained herein, or action or inaction that may cause any delay to the progress of the Parade.
The Seattle Police Department has indicated that they will be issuing citations to any drivers engaging in excessive speeds (over 15 mph) or reckless driving during the parade.
