Founded in 1987, the People of Color Against AIDS Network (POCAAN) is one of the nation’s first HIV/AIDS organizations centering communities of color. Today, almost 40 years later, POCAAN has grown to house 13 programs addressing how substance misuse, incarceration, homelessness, sexually transmitted diseases, racism, sexism, transphobia, and homophobia contribute to community marginalization and health disparities.
