Seattle Pride Statement on the FIFA World Cup

Dec 23, 2025 | Seattle Pride

Seattle Pride welcomes all visitors, teams, and communities coming to Seattle during the FIFA World Cup, which coincides with Pride Month in June.

For more than 50 years, Seattle Pride has done what we do best: host the Seattle Pride Parade and March on the last Sunday in June, commemorating the Stonewall uprising and celebrating the rich history of Seattle’s LGBTQIA2S+ community. The parade route through downtown Seattle has remained consistent for more than two decades and typically welcomes approximately 350,000 people.

The proximity of World Cup fan events this year offers visitors a powerful opportunity to experience Pride in Seattle and the values that define our community — visibility, resilience, and joy.

While Seattle Pride does not have authority over FIFA match decisions, stadium operations, or team participation, our focus is on welcoming people to our city and delivering a Pride Weekend where everyone feels seen, respected, and safe. Pride-related programming outside the stadium is coordinated by the Seattle FIFA World Cup 26™ Local Organizing Committee, a separate organization from Seattle Pride.

We know members of our community are bringing real concerns and lived experiences to this moment, and we hear those voices. Pride has always been rooted in solidarity — across communities, across borders, and across generations — and during Pride Month we reaffirm our commitment to LGBTQIA2S+ visibility, dignity, and safety, locally and worldwide.

Seattle Pride works in ongoing collaboration with community partners, including tribal nations, cultural organizations, and local LGBTQIA2S+ leaders, and we will continue to do so to ensure this historic moment reflects the values of inclusion, respect, and connection that define Seattle Pride.

The World Cup coinciding with Pride represents a moment of global visibility, and Seattle Pride welcomes the opportunity to connect visitors with Seattle’s LGBTQIA2S+ history, culture, artists, and community leaders.

Seattle Pride will continue to honor our history, uplift our community, and welcome everyone to celebrate Pride with us. The Pride Parade and March are our focus, our joy, and our contribution to a weekend that reflects the values of inclusion and belonging that define Seattle. This is our moment to show the world what 50+ years of Pride looks like.
