Pride Speaks August: Served with Pride, LGBTQIA+ Veterans - Meet the Panel

Aug 18, 2021 | Seattle Pride

This month we focus on LGBTQIA+ Veterans who have Served with Pride, and ask such questions as:
How did queerness impact veterans' service, what policies and systems need to become more inclusive, and how can civilians and allies work to improve the experience of service members?

Our panel of experts include:

Monique Brown (she/her) who served in the Army for 26 years beginning during "Don't Ask Don't Tell", including one tour in Guantanamo Bay in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and two tours to Iraq;

Crystal Ellington (she/her), a recently retired queer vet of color that served in the Army and who was the first Black female helicopter mechanic in her Special Operations unit;

Skye Locke (she/her), who served in the military from 2004 to 2005 during the Era of "Don't Ask Don't Tell."

The panel will be moderated by Melissa Margain (she/her), a United States Army veteran who served during the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" era, as well as when the decision was repealed, and who works with Minority Veterans of America.

Registration Information:

The event will take place from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25th. Free event registration is now open!
