Celebrating 50 Years of Pride: Seattle Pride's Youth Internship Program Expands to Showcase LGBTQIA+ Art

We are thrilled to share some exciting news that will make the upcoming 50th anniversary Pride celebration even more special. The Seattle LGBTQ+ Center and Seattle Pride have joined forces once again to lead a collaborative youth internship program. This initiative aims to amplify youth voices and leadership within our community events, and this year, we are taking it to new heights with the expansion of the program and the inclusion of a queer art exhibit.
Building on the success of last year's internship, we are proud to announce the second year of our collaborative youth internship program. The Seattle Pride interns, aged 16-22 and from LGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC communities, will play a pivotal role in creating two distinctive spaces at Pride in the Park, the annual arts and culture event scheduled for June 1st, 2024. In addition to the hub for LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults to connect, we are introducing an art exhibit that will feature local LGBTQIA+ art. This expansion not only provides more opportunities for youth involvement, but also aligns perfectly with the 50th anniversary celebration of Pride in Seattle.
Internship Program Details
- Centered on LGBTQIA+ & QTBIPOC Communities
- Ages 16-22 (Under 18 Requires Signed Parent/Guardian Form)
- Internship Dates: March 14th, 2024 - April 23rd, 2024, & On-site activation at Pride in the Park on June 1, 2024
- Weekly Sessions: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5 pm - 7 pm with additional flexible paid working hours each week
- Total Program Stipend: $1200
- Application Deadline: February 16th, 2024
- Notification of Acceptance: February 22nd, 2024

Art Submission Opportunity
As part of our expanded program, we invite LGBTQIA+ artists of any age to submit artwork centering queerness or queer history for consideration in the art exhibit. Here are the submission details:
- Submission Deadline: March 13th, 2024
- Announcement of Selected Works: April 3rd, 2024
- Art Exhibit Date: June 1st, 2024
- Up to four pieces of artwork accepted in application
- Artists Under 18 Require Signed Parent/Guardian Form
